DIGIPOINT is a simple dual-channel digital sound system and magnetic, designed by “Techno Instrumentation” for the location of faults in underground power cables.
It consists of two units, the acoustic transducer (pickup) and the amplifier with headphones.
The DIGIPOINT is used in conjunction with a Surge Generator, also increasing the sensitivity and the amplification of the electromagnetic signal produced by the generator, the receiver also indicates the position of the cable.
The unique feature of DIGIPOINT is to indicate the exact distance to the fault, with digital readout corresponding to the figure that appears on the screen.
Application with Surge Generator:
For pin-pointing of cable faults DIGIPOINT is used with the headphone and Surge Generator (T-1004,T-1005,T-1020,T-1032). The Surge Generators are devices used for precise location of faults in power cables with the acoustic method. This method provides for the charging of a capacitor with the pulse voltage which is then downloaded to the cable fault through a spark gap.
With the use of the detector, as well as the acoustic is also measured the time between the arrival of the magnetic wave and the sound. Therefore approaching the fault point to the time difference becomes progressively smaller until reaching a minimum value above the fault.
The main parameters detected by the detector are:
Relative distance from the magnetic and acoustic fault in ms. The lower the value the closer the fault.
- Intensity of the magnetic signal present at the location to confirm the presence of the cable and its location.
- Confirmation of the acoustic signal.
- Confirmation of the magnetic signal.
